Port forwarding troubles

Internet disappointment
I have been without the internet all day. I pay a pretty good amount of money to have good service and at times at may go out. Today my service has been out the whole day and now i got a text that’ll be out overnight. I’m very disappointed and will be looking for different services.

COX Modem
I have a COX modem. It said on their original offer that they would update my hardware every few years. I went to the COX shop and asked for a new modem and they gave me an old one with bits rattling in the case. I turned it down. (The modem I have is 6 years old.)Is there in fact updated hardware?
