Why Does Screen Save Not Work

I have the screen saver in all of our rooms set to come on after 5 hours, but we have noticed that it will still come on only after 2 hours- it is really annoying. We have it on in the background or for our pets while we are out and even when we are only gone for a couple of hours by the time we get home the screen saver is already on. Why does it do this? Why have the option of 5 hours if you are never going to let your box stay on for that long before having the screen saver appear. Why don’t you just have the option to turn it off completely? This is so frustrating.

Hi Dahomey, I am sorry you're having issues with the power saving mode. Have you thought about disabling it instead to keep the TVs on for your fur babies?

How do you do this? I thought that we did not have that option. When I look at the options it does not say anything about shutting it off or turning it off completely.

thanks

You can find the instructions at https://www.cox.com/residential/support/contour-and-power-save-mode.html Once the setting is updated, you may want to restart your cable box if it still shuts down. Thank you.

Sorry- this does not work, mine had the power saver button already off and it still shuts off after 2 or 3 hours and puts it into screensaver mode- this may be a glitch of some sort but it certainly never stays on past the 3 hour mark. Even with the screensaver set to 5 hours.  Honestly this is not surprising- being that your cable “boxes” have such an antiquated user interface compared to other dish or cable companies the idea that we are unable to disable the screensaver is not surprising. I love your channel lineup, but honestly the user interface on this equipment is so bad I wonder sometimes if I should just find another service.

Thank you for getting this started. I too am over the top frustrated with not being able to turn Power Saver OFF! It disrupts my sleep, disrupts my day and disrupts my life. I literally want to throw the remote at my TV every time it asks me if I am still watching - how did it become your business to know if I am still watching my TV in my home??????????!!!!!!!!!! I have made 2 calls filing a complaint. My call today I was able to get a mailing address to file a complaint and I see there is an email address now. I am hoping if enough of Cox customers will file a complaint they will change this and we won't have to see their ads.

The mailing address is - Cox Cable/Residential, 6205 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA xxxx.
