Probably money. I am sure a moderator will pop up and offer to do a channel request but many have made that request and so far no change. I see it as a good thing personally. OANN is propaganda IMO.

...just OANN is propaganda?

Granted, other news stations aren't that better. Depends which direction you swing, left or right. I don't watch broadcast TV personally so I have no skin in the game, however I HATE Trump, and OANN is Trumps propaganda channel.

OANN isn't broadcast.

I do feel you think there is a problem with news channels nowadays, and I agree,  News is no longer information but persuasion.

However, Trump does call out this problem of the news channels and has done a lot of damage to the reputation of news.

I can no longer watch news.  I do, however, watch about 30 minutes of Newsmax in the morning to get a gist of what's happening.

OANN isn't broadcast.

What I meant is I only watch Netflix,Disney+,etc on my TV. No TV service from any provider. I was thinking of getting Youtube TV but the cost isn't worth it to me. TV shows with commercials is just not something I like anymore.

YouTube is getting horrible with its commercials.  I like to stream vintage concerts and on some nights, the band can't even finish a song without an awful commercial interrupting.  The worst night was one commercial every five minutes.

YouTube is now commercial TV.

Hi Rednet, Cox currently doesn't have an agreement with OANN to include their channel in our lineup. I've submitted a channel request on your behalf so your request will be considered in future lineup planning. Thanks for your post! -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

I'm happy they don't offer OANN.  It's trash.  In fact, I don't have cable because I don't want the $2-$3 broadcast fee going to Fox News either.

Fox News wouldn't get a broadcast fee because Fox News isn't a broadcast station.

Not only that, because Fox News is a CABLE channel only, they are not affected by the FCC broadcast channels regulations.

I'd presume a cable channel wouldn't have to comply with broadcast regulations, meaning a cable channel can curse on-air but a broadcast channel could be fined; however, I'm unsure of your point.  Because the FCC regulates broadcast stations, do these regulations make broadcast news not "trash"?

Also, Broadcast fees are not gov't mandated.

No, but RE-Broadcast/re-transmission agreements are in fact FCC mandated.

"

What is the FCC retransmission consent?
Retransmission consent is a provision of the 1992 United States Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act that requires cable operators and other multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) to obtain permission from commercial broadcasters before carrying their programming."
That agreement normally includes payment.

Where in that agreement does it read the consumer pays the Broadcast fee?  It doesn't because the Broadcast fee isn't gov't-mandated to the consumer...you know, the one concern about erroneously paying FNC $2-3.
