When attempting to rewind a DVR recording a few minutes it throws me back to the beginning of the show

Sometimes when trying to rewind a few minutes to see something I missed at say the 2 hour mark of a show, the DVR immediately throws me back all the way to the beginning of the show. This happens intermittently and only on shows currently being recorded.
