Manually Stop a Recording?

I wanted to record only PART of a movie but once I hit record, I can't figure out how to stop the recording and save part I wanted recorded

It seems the DVR is going to record the whole movie to the end even tho I want to stop the recording earlier

Is there a way to start a one-time recording and THEN stop it manually?

The way to stop and save a manual recording with Cox TV is to select the channel being recorded, press the Stop button, then press the A button to "Stop & Save".

MS Edge: Highlight your posted text, right click, Select Ask Copilot.

For Contour DVR:

  • While the recording is in progress, press the REC button on your Contour remote.

  • A menu will appear on screen.

  • Use the arrow buttons to highlight “Stop Recording and Keep.”

  • Press OK to confirm.

Thanks for the reply but that didn't/doesn't work for me

Pushing REC just brings up an option menu to save it for up to a year and to have it auto-stop recording later than stated end time

What I figured out to do is:

Hit "info" on remote - then "Record Options" at the menu - then "Cancel" at the next menu - THEN you reach the option to "Cancel Recording" (aka stop) or "Keep Recording"

@jasonbr Thanks for posting your solution.  I have Cox TV, so I didn't know how to do it with a Contour DVR.  Apparently, Copilot doesn't know how to do it either.  Did it save what you had recorded?

Yes, CurtB , it saved the recording

That's what confused me at first - I figured "cancel recording" would cancel AND erase it but it just stops the recording
