How to continue to the next episode.

I have been using a different company for years and this is my first time with Cox. There are two things I don’t know if I have the ability to change in settings or not.

  1. How can I get my cable to automatically go to the next episode of a series I recorded without it prompting me to see if I want to continue to the next episode. This is a basic feature on all streaming sites and DirecTV but I can’t figure out how to do this on Cox.
  2. When I pause a recorded show, if I leave it on pause for more than 10 minutes it just stops the pause and goes back to what ever channel I was on before I started watching the recording. Is there a way to stop this? Sometimes a phone call comes in or something else happens and it seems odd it can’t pause for more than 10 minutes. I could understand if this was live TV- but it is something I recorded.

Welcome to the Cox family, and to the Cox Community Forums. I know changing to something new can take a bit to get used to. For your first concern regarding next episodes, try pressing the Contour button then navigate to the gear for settings, then >preferences>general>next episode suggestion>on.

Regarding the pausing of recorded programs, There is not a setting to change the length of the pause allowed. The recording will automatically exit after being paused for a while. You can press the last button on the Contour remote to return to the recording you were previously viewing and can resume viewing from there.

I do have next episode suggestions on, the problem is it sits there and unless you press yes it does not automatically move on- so if I am working around the house and not near the remote but watching the tv- I have to get the remote and say yes- what I want is like streaming sights etc… if you don’t do anything for like 10 seconds it just moves on to the next episode instead of sitting there waiting for you to push a button. 
I have to say- I am becoming more and more disappointed with the user interface of Cox- I realized as well that unlike DirecTV if you push record on a program as long as it was on that channel when the program started it will record from the beginning of the program-Cox does not it just records from the moment you hit record. Just seems that things can at times seem very antiquated with Cox.

Thank you for providing that information and update. I do apologize for this experience. To confirm,  you would like to have it auto play to the next episode. Can you try Contour >settings >labs auto play next episode ? Please let us know if that helps.

Thank you! I am going to try this out. I am sad that it is something that could possibly go away- Fingers crossed this doesn’t especially since it is standard for all other platforms.

Sadly, this does not work- it gets still stuck on the delete/don’t delete for the recording and won’t move forward to the next one in that series- even after I say don’t delete it just takes you back to the selection screen. There seems to be no way of just watching all the recordings of the same show without having to deal with prompts etc… I am kinda sad 🙁 - I was hoping this was the solution.
