Current available equipment

Good afternoon. I have a question regarding some equipment that I need to clarify. So right now we are in the process of getting rid of the combined internet and WiFi router. Now my question is if I still have my panoramic WiFi modem, can I request to have cox issue me a separate modem for the phone service or would it have to be combined into one? We have a security system that is phone line monitored and we want to have the phone modem downstairs and the WiFi modem upstairs. Do you know if theirs a way to do that?

the next question I have is regarding to cable boxes. I never really understood the difference between cox tv and the contour tv. Is it the same thing or are they different. And what are the current hardwired cable boxes cox has?

Hello zachfindley6240,

Great questions!  The answer is yes.  If you elect to have a separate modem for phone, that is something that can be done.  However I am a bit confused, as you mentioned you are looking to get rid of the modem/router combo. Some customers opt to connect their own personal modem and router.  If so, we can provide you with the telephone modem. On the other hand, if you elect to keep the Panoramic device, but have a separate modem you may be looking at rental fee.

With regard to your questions about the video receivers, it can vary depending on your preferred service level.  Please visit the link for more details information about our plans.

Feel free to send us an email to Cox.Help@cox.com with your account details for further assistance.

https://www.cox.com/residential/support/cox-certified-cable-modems.html While most of the Cox Certified and provided modems do have phone ports, they are not active unless there is a phone service. This link will provide you with the whole list. When we send a modem from our warehouse, it is based on supply so we cannot guarantee which one will be sent. You can always go by one of the Cox Solution Stores to check availability too. For example, the Surfboard SB8200 does not have a phone port, it also does not have WiFi, a router would be needed. I hope that helps clarify.

Ok so then if we do decide to keep the panoramic WiFi router. What would be the equipment rental fee for the phone modem? I am gonna guess maybe what $5 or $8 a month?

There is no rental fee for a modem only used for Cox voice/phone service. You will want to contact our sales team to ensure that the service is available and coded accordingly for your account.

Ok so if we were to use like the Arris TM3402 that cox supplies. I can use that one for the voice and use the panoramic WiFi one for the WiFi.
