Contour compatibility

I currently have 3 Cisco HD set top boxes (which use the older Cox interface). In addition I have 1 cable card that is in a TiVo XL4 box and associated tuning adapter.  I have been told that I should consider migrating to the newer Contour system because the older equipment is prone to breaking down and is not reliable.

I am willing to do this conversion provided:

the TiVo box will continue to work AND I can get contour boxes that have composite/component output connectors

Does anyone know if this is possible?

thanks. Terry (Cox Orange County)

Hi alfansome, that's a great question.  We think you will find this link to be very helpful with the questions about our products and what they support https://www.cox.com/residential/support/identifying-your-cox-digital-receiver.html.  This will provide you with every cable box we offer as well as all available port information needed so you can make the right decision if moving forward with upgrading any equipment.

Fyi. The writing is on the wall for cable cards. Between the power key issue, Cox moving to IPTV, and the new cloud DVR platform coming next month, I think cablecards will stop being supported by Cox soon. Take that under advisement when considering your options.

I upgraded to the cloud DVR about 2 years ago and saw that these were being upgraded on December 11th.   I called "customer service" to see what I needed to do and was told by the outsourced customer service rep that I will need to upgrade my entire system to Panoramic  Wi-Fi to keep my DVR working and my 3 mini boxes.   Am I getting the correct information?   Do you require Panoramic Wi-Fi now to keep Cox services working?  I am using my own Arris SB6190 cable modem and a separate router and Wi-Fi that work just fine.    Thanks,  Jim Hancock

Hello. No equipment will need to be swapped or upgraded for the upcoming change on December 11th. However, recordings that were done prior to August 11th 2024 will be lost. Recordings post the aforementioned date will be retained.
