Phone upgrade

forgive me if this has been answered, however, I skimmed thru and didn't see it.. What if I don't upgrade? I would love to get rid of my land line, however, I am under a "contract" with Cox to keep my bundle. I would prefer to just leave it as is.  Will my land line no longer work?
