Phone Service Cancelled

Has anyone else experienced having Cox inexplicably cancel their phone service without advance notice?

There are three possibilities.

  1. Cox actually did cancel a provided service to a paying customer.  (No, I don't think so).
  2. An equipment or signal issue caused loss of phone service.  (Possible).
  3. OP is a troll and made it up.   (Probable).  You joined our little community late tonight.  If you're legit, contact cox.help@cox.com Provide your full name, service address and a description of your issue.

Why are you here? This seems to be your first post. I am not taking a side either way, I am just curious how you came to be here to even see the comment. I think the issue is a lot of frustration from people posting complaints without any technical data of their setup or what troubleshooting they already did. It's like 98% of this forum is just people who post a complaint and are never heard of again. Will the above post be your first and last?

I didn't actually call OP a troll.  It was the most probable possibility.  OP wasn't a troll. but you are.

seems i angered the elitist circle.

none of your business why i came here, armchair moderator.
but if you must know i had a curiosity due to a recent modem issue and explored the forums to see if other, more mature, users were facing similar and was considering posting a thread to maybe gauge some advice and just stumbled upon this thread and was disappointed to see an "Honored" Contributor immediately call the OP a troll and then backpedal once he gets called out like this is Reddit or something.

If you aren't here to help people, and you aren't here to get help or to discuss Cox service, please leave. There are 3 main users here. We are the only ones here actually trying to help people. No, I am not a moderator so I can't force you to leave, but I can ask nicely. Now if you wanted to make a post about your modem issue, I will be happy to help, as long as you are nice.

What is the symptom? is it actually canceled or was it ported to a different provider? does anyone else have access to your account?

Mystery solved. When our cable modem was replaced the technician who turned in the old equipment apparently didn’t specify that the phone service was to be continued, and the system auto-defaulted to disconnecting the phone service…

So it wasn't that your service was canceled. It just didn't work. I think that was what was throwing us off. what happened is they forgot to add what is called the telephone occurrence when provisioning the new gateway. This doesn't assign the telephone service to the gateway. Why was the gateway replaced to begin with?

Thanks for posting back.  Your issue may have been a first here.  There was a signal issue.  It was just caused by a technician error rather than one of the normal reasons.
