Too many outages and no other options
I pay my bill on autopay every month without fail, but in return I get an internet service that’s completely unreliable. In just the past few days, I’ve had three outages that I know of — and I’m sure there have been more when I wasn’t online. It’s beyond frustrating to be paying full price for a service that keeps cutting out whenever it wants to.
What makes it even worse is that Cox is the only option in my area, so I’m stuck paying for this garbage because there’s no competition. How is it acceptable for a major internet provider to leave its customers in the dark this often? People rely on their internet for work, school, and basic daily life — yet Cox treats outages like they’re no big deal.
Honestly, it feels like a scam. They happily take my money, but can’t deliver consistent service. If you have any other option besides Cox, take it. Being forced to rely on them has been nothing but a headache and a constant source of anger

I had 25 days in the last year that have outages. I work from home so it’s a big problem. They don’t hesitate to keep charging high rates for inconsistent service. It’s a total scam! They sure don’t prorate for the days we are without service. Maybe I should start billing them for the money and time I lose for all their outages. This is ridiculous.

I 100% agree. Cox used to be very reliable, I rarely had outages. Over the last couple of years there have been outages almost weekly and I experience packet loss daily. This week already there have been 2 outages and I work from home. As soon as another ISP is available here I have to leave Cox since I work from home 3 days a week. The website and customer service line are frustrating too because they continuously try to sell you additional services. Its nearly impossible to make simple changes to your account without them pushing add ons.
