SCAM calls pretending to be from COX
I keep getting calls from someone pretending to be from COX Internet tech support from 817 area code, asking me to check my Internet setup and speed by running MSCONFIG on my computer. Hmm, that's not how things work! The last time the person yelled at me and told me I had an "empty head" when I said the call was nonsense. Had my correct last name, but I guess that is public info. Now if only I REALLY could get COX to call me to make sure my internet was working correctly these calls would not be so annoying :)

Hello. I'm sorry to hear about the scammer calls. I know those can be annoying. Scammers will usually call pretending to be a reputable company to gain trust. It seems like you're handling them the right way. Although we cannot call all customers to check in, we make ourselves available 24/7 via phone, chat, social media, email, or these forums. We'd be happy to assist anytime. Thank you!

You can use Voice Tools Spam Blocker to block calls identified by Cox as known spammers. If the calls are from the same number, you can also block them with phone code *60, press 2 to block calls from a specified number. then press # to block the number from the last call received. Blocked calls will be included in Voice Tools Call History but won't ring your phone.
