Request for Review of Inefficient Customer Service Experience and Unresolved Retention Offer
I would like to express my frustration regarding my recent interaction with Cox customer support.
Over the course of approximately one and a half hours, I engaged in a lengthy chat session discussing my account, available promotions, competing offers from another provider, and the retention offer that was ultimately presented to me. During that discussion, the representative indicated that a new offer was available and spent a considerable amount of time reviewing my account and discussing the details of the proposed pricing and service changes.
However, after investing nearly 90 minutes in the conversation, I was informed that the representative was unable to process the offer they had presented. Instead, I was instructed to call a separate phone number to complete the transaction.
From a customer perspective, this is extremely frustrating. The purpose of engaging through the chat platform is to resolve issues efficiently and avoid the need for additional calls, transfers, and repeated explanations. After spending such a significant amount of time providing account information, discussing service options, and reviewing the proposed offer, I am now being asked to start the entire process over again with another representative who has no direct knowledge of the previous discussion.
This creates the impression that my time is not being valued. If a representative is not authorized or technically capable of completing an offer, that limitation should be identified much earlier in the interaction. Customers should not be required to spend an hour and a half negotiating and reviewing options only to discover that the transaction cannot be completed through the channel in which it was offered.
I respectfully request that Cox review this experience and either honor and process the offer through a representative who has the necessary authority or provide a seamless escalation process that does not require customers to repeat the same conversation from the beginning. At a minimum, the details of the offer and the extensive discussion that already occurred should be documented and transferred to the next representative so that customers are not forced to repeat the process.
I value my time, just as I value the services I purchase. After nearly 90 minutes of discussion, I should not be placed back at the starting line and required to begin the entire conversation again.

4lostcajuns Sorry to hear that you may need to call in to get a work order completed. There may be an offer that the representative in chat was unable to give you, but possibly someone from our Sales Team would be able to take care of for you. Please email us at cox.help@cox.com and include your full name, address and a link to this Forums post. There's a possibility that representative did leave a work order set up for you, and we need a sales person to complete.
