new panoramic (TG1682) same problem as old netgear

frequent loss of internet connection requires reset by unscrewing cable connection then reconnecting.

unplugging power and repowering does not work. cable input must be disconnected/reconnected.

it does not matter where i disconnect (back of modem, either side of splitter, 

i have replaced splitter and all cables several times.
