Need more connections to Panoramic Gateway

I have gigablast with the technicolor panoramic modem. I have run into a limit on the number of devices I can connect (55). Bandwidth is not an issue, building a smart home with many low bandwidth devices. Can I connect a second router to increase the number of connections and how should it be configured? I have a Netgear 7000 I would like to use. Thanks.
