Gigablast Parnoramic modem only and use own router

I was just notified that Gigablast is available as an upgrade now at my house. I currently own my own modem and router. The modem is only DocSiS 3.0 but the router can handle gigabit easily. My question is, can I use your own router and use the Cox Panoramic as a modem only?
