Data usage too high . Overage ridiculous

10 days into my billing cycle I'm already getting notices saying I'm 50% used of my data there's just no way something's going on I don't know if you guys are trying to press people to upgrade or what but it's crazy there's two people in this house I don't know if all the commercials going on I don't know if other people are being able to share my internet I don't know what's going on but it's ridiculous I'm not upgrading after 20 years or more I'm thinking about leaving Cox something's not right we already paid way too much for simple internet with inflation and everything else it's not the time to squeeze your customers who already paid the most expensive Internet available just not good business

Hello, 10 days and already 50% of your Data Usage for your Billing Cycle, does sound like a problem. We can help investigate the bulk of your usage or any issues that maybe causing this. Please feel free to email us at Cox.Help@cox.com.

I'm having the exact same issue! Their only answer is to blame the smart tv's, which i don't doubt plays a little bit into the role but not enough to put me over. I have noticed that from August until February these texts are sent out like clock work. Something is definitely off with this company.

@hol261 Cox's data monitoring system is verified by a third party, and is 99.99% accurate. That means something IS using that data. There are a number of things that can cause that usage, a Smart tv streaming 4k, can use almost 8gb/hr. If you have Amazon Alexa, it can go into a loop hearing your TV. and will send/rec data chewing it up. If you happened to put onedrive on a cell phone, it COULD be doing daily backups of ALL data on your phone. Security cameras, if they are hi def can chew up data as well.

Setting a data cap limit on home internet is a scam that is making Cox and other greedy ISPs millions of dollars

It also allows them to ID those who monopolize the network to the detriment of many other customers.

Just fyi, Ideatek and Brightspeed have unlimited data plans for less than the outrageous price cox has to offer.
