Cox reports data usage that is incorrect

I recently noticed that Cox is reporting that my usage suddenly jumped by 600 to 700%. A friend installed an ASUS router and we discovered a discrepancy in what Cox claims I use and my actual usage from the router.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Routers do not accurately measure all internet activity. That being said, my router is usually about within 5% of Cox's measurements. Cox's system is monitored by a third party and has a documented 99.9% accuracy.

There are many things that can use data. Onedrive is a hog, Streaming 4k video is another. Security cameras can use alot, as can amazon alexa/echo dots, they can get in a loop where they send and receive everything going on, and chew up data.
