Can’t use WiFi for gaming anymore

My WiFi can’t handle gaming anymore and it’s constantly being garbage, it’s not enjoyable anymore and I need to switch to a different provider if they aren’t gonna fix it , (a tech didn’t help either )

Hello. I can certainly understand your concern with gaming over Wi-Fi, and I want to help. What seems to be going on with the Wi-Fi connection? Are you getting random drops? Speed issues? Etc.

@Allan the game keeps disconnecting and kicking me out of ranked games and losing elo , it can’t handle even one phone on the WiFi and I swear Allen if you send me to customer service email , you are a horrible person and bot

I assure you that I am not a bot and I want nothing less than for you to be able to enjoy the service that you are subscribed to.

Are you losing the internet connection when you are dropped from the game? Is your device reporting poor speeds or latency issues? What is the signal strength of the connection to the Wi-Fi network?

@Allan yeah sure , it lags during the game and once I’m kicked from the game it takes 1 minute for it to go back to normal and the app is clearly horrible cuz it says the internet speed and strength are strong , it’s not strong during the match or game ?? It’s clearly weak

If the app is reporting good speeds, then you are receiving good speeds while on our network since those results come from the modem itself.

I recommend having your device run a pingplot test to the game server in question to see if there is a routing issue that could be causing the drops.

There are a number of things you can do to address WiFi issues.

  1. Ensure the Wireless router is at least 5-6 feet away from wireless devices.
  2. Make sure it's out in the open, not behind anything, under anything, or in a SmartBox. (Think Faraday cage). Make sure it's raised as high as you can place it.
  3. If the router is far away,  try to ensure it's placed in a manner that reduces the number of item's between it and the device trying to connect. Everything in between reduces signal levels, hence the step 1, make sure it's raised high, since a device placed higher, doesn't tend to have as much furniture or appliances between it and the device connecting via WiFi.
  4. If the devices are greater than 30 ft apart, try using 2.4 ghz instead of 5 ghz. 5 ghz radio wave bounces up and down over 2x as many times as 2.4, meaning that distance traveled is basically doubled.
