Canceled Before it Started
I wish I could give Cox Cable negative stars. I had their service years ago, and while they weren’t great back then, the competition wasn’t much better. Unfortunately, nothing has improved.
I called on 09/14/2026 to start Internet service. The sales representative couldn’t answer basic questions about Wi‑Fi extenders — something that isn’t new technology — and transferred me after setting up my installation for the next morning. Tech support told me the extenders were $69.99 and had to be paid for upfront. Then he transferred me again, and the next person told me they were $149.99 each and that I could either pick them up at a store or have them delivered. Meanwhile, I already had an installer scheduled for 8 a.m.
At that point, I said never mind — I wanted to cancel the Internet service I had just signed up for. I was supposedly transferred to the loyalty department, but instead I was disconnected. I called back, waited over 20 minutes, and ended up in the retention department. They didn’t attempt to keep me as a customer at all.
I explained that I had already spent 2 hours and 49 minutes on the phone and that I wasn’t paying $150 for a Wi‑Fi extender when I was originally told $70 — especially when my current provider gives me one at no extra cost. Cox Cable just arrived in my small town of about 10,000 people with one traffic light. It won’t take long for word to spread about how they treat customers.
I told them to remove me from their mailing list and to stop leaving advertisements on my door. The service was terrible before it even started. I have better things to do than waste nearly three hours on the phone, and in the end, I got absolutely nothing for my time.
I will be posting this experience everywhere I can.

And now I am having to call back to verify it was canceled because I keep getting messages stating it is still happening tomorrow.
