Based on my own experience I have found the following simple steps ofter resolve issues w/ my cable tv:

1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your cable box
2. Wait 20 seconds
3. Plug the power cord back into your cable box
4. Wait a minute or 2 for your box to boot up

9 times out of 10 this helps me.
