I bought a third-party network TV Tuner to watch my live TV shows internal & externally on my notebook, tablet, etc. How will it work?

There are many benefits towards this type of add on for Cable TV: Each network tuner has at least one MAC Address if needed by your Cable Provider. If it requires a cable card, this will be the best tuner to have. Because more high-tech devices are starting to come out, some will not pick up certain channels that you have with the package you pay for every month. If the tuner requires a cable card (such as an M-Card), your in luck because the cable card will signal those channels to come through that you are allowed to have. If using WMC (Windows Media Center), it includes parental controls, Closed Captioning, TV-Playback with record & pausing, TV-Guide (internet required), & Netflix (Internet required). You must be running Win. Vista Home Premium or higher, Win. 7 Home Premium or higher, Win. 8 Pro or higher (I), Win. 10 or Higher. It's better to use WMC for your tuner because you will not have to install with enclosed installation disc. windows Update eliminates the hassles. When you connect a tuner to an internal network or computer for your cable TV, Windows Update will indicate on your taskbar automatically; you may check it for status. If not, click Start, type Device Manager, right click and click Update Driver Software. Use search online for the correct driver. Don't remove the tuner while it is doing so. Scroll to setup for first time use or settings then click TV to rescan or add channels. It will automatically find a tuner on the network and search Windows Update as an example to download the exact driver for your tuner. Once downloaded, accept any user agreements. WMC will detect incoming services from the tuner such as Cox, at&t, Comcast, etc.; use the recommended selection. WMC will began searching for not only for both incoming analog and digital signals, then download the 14-day TV-Guide bi-weekly. That's IT! Your cable TV is now available. If recording, the red icon for that TV show is displayed next to that program indicating pending / currently record, do not shut down or restart PC until you cancel or recording has ended to prevent loss of recorded show. Putting WMC in full screen while playing video, music, pictures, Netflix, will prevent the pc of sleep, display turning off & screen saver. To watch your Live TV remotely, consult the device's user manual for its recommended port number and TCP / UDP protocol settings for port forwarding. Reserve your network TV tuner with the labeled MAC address to a fixed internal IP address then go to the port-forwarding page and set the internal & external port and the internal IP you chosen for the tuner. (I) On windows 8 Pro, if WMC isn't available, Windows Media Center must be added using Add Features function. Swipe from the right side, search add features. type the product key for it. Also, make sure to update to Windows 8.1 via Windows App Store by clicking START in lower left corner of the screen. If you need the product key, search for a site that has one with the 25-character key.
