@gmail.com emails from iPad not received by @cox.net

If I send an email to a cox account from my apple mail gmail account it is never received. As a test I sent a message to @cox.net from the gmail website on my laptop and it came through, so it seems it must be something associated with the app/iPad sourcing the message. Can you tell me how to correct this problem?
