The messages that were missing from Webmail, were these unread messages?  Webmail will delete unread email messages in your Inbox automatically after 60 days.

Hello,

Do you have the option selected to save a copy on the server? If not, they will be deleted from webmail. Also, just to make sure we are on the same page, are you getting all the emails to show up on the iphone?

Thanks,

My emails on which were missing from webmail were on my iPhone but this message appeared "message not downloaded from server.".  How can I check if I have the option to save to the server on webmail as my iPhone has not to delete messages.

The email messages were all read and were only 72 hours old

If you're wanting to keep messages on the server it might be more convenient to remove your email account from the iPhone and re-add it as an IMAP account.  This would by default leave all content on the server and messages on the iPhone will always mirror what's on the server.

This recommendation does not tell me why the emails are deleted from the server after 72 hours not if I change what happens to my old emails.

By design, POP3 deletes emails from the server by default when retrieving them.  Problems like the ones you've described can occur if something isn't working as set in the mail client's preferences.  IMAP by nature doesn't alter the server contents unless you instruct it to.
