Cisco DPC3010 - My 2 cents

I was reading a post about the Cisco DPC3010 having some issues.  There is I think an design flaw within these type of modems.  I bought the Cisco DPC3010  from COX and immediately noticed it getting way to warm at the touch.  Now who in their own right mind would ever thought of putting a top cover on the modem right over the heat-sink with no proper ventilation? I took the top cover off the modem and put a hole through the cover where the heat sink would be and mounted on a 4inch fan so it will blow right on top the heat sink and through out the rest of modem since the rest of the modem was already vented.  Later on I had noticed by SNR were dropping and Powerlevel numbers were declining to nearly -15 as the day wore on.  As the outside warms up, the coax is affected in a way that would made by SNR and powerlevel change in a bad way, and it didn't help with the coaxial was in direct sunlight.  I ran new coaxial from the box at the side of my house to where my modem is in the different part of the house to keep the coaxial out of the direct sunlight and I had to put on a 10db Attenuator in the back of the modem.  Now my readings look like this and my connection has greatly improved.

Power Level: Signal to Noise Ratio:
Channel 1: -1.8 dBmV 39.4 dB
Channel 2: -1.5 dBmV 39.4 dB
Channel 3: -1.3 dBmV 38.3 dB
Channel 4: -2.7 dBmV 38.7 dB
Channel 5: -3.3 dBmV 38.6 dB
Channel 6: -2.4 dBmV 39.1 dB
Channel 7: -3.5 dBmV 38.0 dB
Channel 8: -3.6 dBmV 38.2 dB
